Delay in Grant payments

Usually, the grant payment is transferred to your account within 7-14 days after the approval of the application, so there is no fixed time frame for the process of processing the grant payment.

  • The payment day is on Public holidays or weekends.

  • Wait a few days to see if you receive an SMS.

  • If you don’t receive any SMS after several days, call the SASSA helpline (0800 601 011).
  • You can also visit the nearest SASSA office for direct support if the issue persists and your bank confirms no payment received.

SASSA Status Approved but No Payment Date

If your SASSA status shows as approved but you haven’t received a payment date, this issue can be concerning. Several reasons may explain this situation, and understanding them can help you in resolving the issue more efficiently. Below are the common reasons why you were not notified about your grant payment date despite your status showing “Approved”

  • SASSA has received a large number of grant applications.
  • Your bank details might be missing from your application.
  • Your cell phone number is incorrect or outdated in the SASSA database.
  • Your application is still undergoing verification.
  • There is some technical issue within SASSA.
