How Often the Applicants Must Reconfirm Grant Applications?

Previously SASSA stated that it was a requirement to reconfirm your SRD grant every 3 months, but now SASSA has phased this out. The applicants now don’t need to reconfirm their application every 3 months. According to the new policy of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), beneficiaries no longer need to confirm SRD R350 Grant applications every 3 months.

According to the new SASSA regulations, Sassa no longer requires reconfirmation of SRD grant applications following the amendments. Those who qualify for SRD R350 grants must now meet new criteria under the revised regulations. A monthly income of less than R624 renders you eligible for the grant. If you still meet the criteria for the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant), then you have no reason to worry as your grant will automatically be approved each month.

What to do after submitting the Reconfirm Application?

After submitting your SASSA reconfirmation application, you have to wait for a few days for SASSA to verify the information you provided. After that, you should perform an SASSA status check for R350 regularly to find out whether your application was approved or denied.

  • If your application was approved, then you will see your application status as “Approved.” You will see your grant amount and your payment date in your status.
  • If your application status states “Declined,” you can submit your SASSA reapplication for SRD R350 for reconsideration. If your reapplication is denied, you can also submit your SASSA Appeal decision by filing an appeal with the ITSAA for each month within 90 days of your reapplication being denied. After your reapplication has been declined, you will be given instructions on how to file an appeal. Failure to file an appeal for each month the application is denied will result in loss of grant payment and the original SASSA decision being upheld.

Conclusion

In essence, the reconfirmation process of SASSA SRD applications allowed SASSA to uphold transparency, accountability, and equity in the provision of social assistance.
